Armor pieces formerly produced for an organization of nocturnal athletes [descriptive accuracy forbidden]. Exclusivity contract expired - partially finished kits now available for general distribution.
Kits include all pieces required to build a pair of bands. Band can be worn in many positions, but see sizing image. Straps include an elastic buffer to help keep the armor in place, and do not require any sewing.
LED variant adds (8) single-color 3V LEDs, (2) CR2032 batteries, (2) battery holders, (2) switches, (2) switch covers, and (4) acrylic light diffusers. Soldering required.
Steps required [a guide with further tips is included]:
- Cut out armor shells using a razor. Styrene is easy to work with.
- Drill mounting holes and clean up edges. Shell surfaces should require very little sanding, if any.
- Paint, if desired.
- Install electronics and light diffusers, if applicable
- Install foam padding.
Tools required:
- Box cutter or similar sturdy razor
- 1/8" drill bit
- Sandpaper/files
- Hot glue gun
- 2mm hex wrench
- Soldering kit (for LED variant)
Skill level: Easy (LED system is also easy if you already have soldering experience)
Time level: Low, plus paint dry time
[Q: Can I buy a finished version?] No, sorry - while these should be easy for one person to make for themselves, various personal factors make them unsuitable for mass production.
